A farmhouse rustic style floating staircase with the illusion that the wooden treads are coming out of the wall.

This was a newly built farmhouse on a hill, clad in flint externally, and in part, internally. The client wanted the property to accentuate it’s rural, rustic surrounding, so in order to achieve this, we installed a cantilevered, steel frame for the building contractor to conceal within the stone.

This helped us achieve this beautiful, floating staircase. We took inspiration for the shape of the balustrade from the surrounding farm machinery, and then we chose to clad the treads in the same flooring used throughout the upstairs of the house, in order to create a link between the rustic ground floor entrance and the more comfortable upper floors.
